Explanations of what the prefs dialogs mean
Hostname:
The hostname of the asterisk server
Username:
The username of the asterisk manager (see /etc/asterisk/manager.conf)
Password:
The password of the asterisk manager
This will be addressed by a controller thread soon, so that full access need not be given to the ADM clients)
Priority:
Unless you know what this does, leave it set to 1
Context:
Set this to the context your phone is set to, in extensions.conf - e.g. default
Source:
Set this to the channel of the phone on your desk - e.g. SIP/1000
External Prefix:
Leave this blank, it's not currently in use
My Channels:
List all the channels that you want ADM to watch for calls on (eg in an office were there are three phones in earshot of your speakers, you want ADM to dip the music when anyone is using any of the 3 phones) - e.g. SIP/1000,SIP/1002,SIP/1005
Volume Adjusted Ports
Select any ports you want ADM to lower the volume of when a call is active
Channels to watch
Same as "My Channels" above (will soon be merged together)
Fade velocity
The time it takes in miliseconds for the volume to be dipped to the desired level
Percentage to lower volume
The amount in percent that you want to lower the volume to
Hostname
The hostname or IP address of the Cisco IP phone on your desk
Password
The password for logging into the telnet interface of the IP phone
Note: You need to edit the cisco configuration file and enable the telnet_level: "2" and phone_password: "cisco" in the SIPXXXXXXX.cnf in your tftp directory
Device ID
The device name of your mobile phone eg K700i
Divert to
The number to divert the calls to the phone on your desk to, when your presence is not detected - e.g. Divert calls to your mobile phone (in my asterisk setup I dial 9 for an outside line first) so the value here would be 907911111111 where 07911111111 is my mobile's phone number
URL
The URL which ADM will open the browser to. The crm popup will add each call to a new firefox tab.
There are 3 variables you can use inside the URL string:
(note: Older versions of asterisk need the command is just exten => 1001,1,SetGlobalVar(ADM=xxx) instead)
Example URL: http://192.168.1.5/crm.pl?callerid=%callerid%&name=%name%&billingref=%custom%

phonebook
I'm using ADM in windows and it works very well. I have only a problem, I can not delete contacts in phonebook with history not empty because it crash. why this?
+ in the number, multiple windows
Thanks for your soft.
I still have some issues with the cisco telnet tools, but that's not the reason of my comment here.
Something I find really annoying on the windows version is that when you click on the icon, you have the dial window that pops up. So far so good, but if you click again on the icon, a second windows pop up. It should bring the focus back to the first one, not creating a new instance.
Also, as a lot of address book, or copy/paste from other sources for phone number are using format that asterisk will not understand. I would like to have dial pattern setup that will let me choose some filtering function i.e. replace the + by 00 (or 011 depending on the country you're at); for number like NXXXXXX add 567 in front, and so forth...
Last, I would really like a way to be able to send the tapi and internet link callto: to ADM.
thanks
Thanks for your feedback. I agree with your comments and when I have time I will try to work on some of them. I am just too busy with real work at the moment and I am still the sole maintainer of ADM, so if you want to help out or submit a patch it is very welcome!
I would also add, that it
I would also add, that it would be nice to let adm send the * key in the dial window.
Issues on Mac OS
Nice first effort, but I find ADM not very unusable on Mac OS. My issues are:
- Interface is clunky and somewhat archaic. Having to ctrl-click menu bar icon to activate menu does not meet current UI control standards. A mouse click on the icon alone should open menu. Also, since this is a menu bar applet, you should remove the dock item.
- Screen popping is unpredictable and doesn't work some of the time.
- The call history list in the phone book is a bit of a misnomer. It only tracks calls made from ADM contact book.
- When the screen pop does work, the answer and hang-up buttons do not work. It also appears that there is a small clipped portion of a third button in the window to the right. What is that for?
- I would recommend making the buttons in the phone book look like buttons. It's hard to know at first that these are in fact buttons or links. At least underline them to make them appear as links. Also permit the use of Mac OS window controls in this panel, permitting the user to close and minimize the window.
not really ADM's fault
Hi thanks for your feedback
Some of the problems you mention are not really ADM's problem at all. We use a library called SWT from eclipse, which allows the OS look and feel to the application and enables the dock facilities and much more. SWT for mac is not 100% complete/advanced and therefore these issues occur.
The other problem is that I have absolutely no Mac access what so ever for testing, and thus the installers are built pretty much blind, so I must say I am quite chuffed that it even worked for you that much ;)
Sorry! Maybe one day I will get a Mac, or someone could send one as a donation :P

Mac issue
Hi! I'm testing your goooood application on my mac, and i really love the idea (it seems there's nothing like this on the net!)
But ... i have a problem: popup browser application does not work.
I'm available, with all my staff, to test new releases whenever you want, cause we are 100% mac ;)
Tks
Possible solution to authentication error!
a tenative packet scan shows an outbound packet from port 1234 to destination port 5038 from internal network behind a very basic NAT configuration on a Cisco 1841.
What follows is reset packet from asterisk server.
I am going to guess that ADM support little to minimal stun capabilities.
I will attempt a static NAT port forward statement and post the results....
manager error
I have the identical username and password in both manager.conf and adm and still cannot authenticate.
What could possibly be the issue?
No other errors exist!
Authentication Issue
Check manager.conf UNDERNETH THAT USER FOR THE FOLLOWING:
deny=0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0
permit=127.0.0.1/255.255.255.0
THIS WOULD RESTRICT THAT USER FROM ONLY LOGGING IN FROM THE PBX MACHINE ITSELF. NO OTHER MACHINES ON THE NETWORK WOULD BE ABLE TO USE THOSE CREDENTIALS
Channels should be separate
>Channels to watch - Same as "My Channels" above
>(will soon be merged together)
It is not the same and should be separate.
I want to see the Webpage only for my calls, but my workmate want my music switched off when he uses his phone. So I have to use different parameters.

URL POPUP NOT FOR INTERNALS
Hi,
and thanks for software. This is a good way to interface our elastix pbx to our database for fast recognizing and added values.
I've configured ADM to popup a query url to our database with %number% incoming from CallerID, that's good... but there is no way to EXCLUDE internal numbers? Everytime a collegue call me from internal a browser popup and this is unusefull and boring....
Many thx.
Ditto - no URL on internal numbers
I just found this project, and it would go a long way toward making our Asterisk system (that replaced our old PBX) a real killer app for the users if we could get this integration with our database system... We already have the web app to do the display, but we need a way to differentiate the internal from external calls so the window doesn't popup all the time for just internal calls. It would go the extra mile if it didn't pop up if there was no match in the database, but I don't see how this could be done via the URL mechanism unless you in essence did a double-query, the first to see if you got a good page or maybe a 404, and if 404 don't spawn the browser to do it.
Popping to IE
Unfortunately our CRM tool only runs in IE :-(. With the speed of firefox 3.0 I'd love to be able to use it, but I can't.
Any chance of allowing windows users to specify the browser to pop to (i.e. IE)?
Popping to IE
Mine pops up to whatever browser I have set to be my default browser in Windows. I have tested with FF and IE.
